As the number of COVID-19 cases grows worldwide, AKA has implemented precautionary measures to help protect our staff and visitors to our facilities. To date, there are no reported cases in Prince Edward Island, Canada where our main manufacturing facility is located. However, we are preparing our staff to help prevent a local outbreak and potential infection.
All staff returning from international travel (whether work-related or private) as well as all visitors to our facilities, must undergo a risk assessment. Based on the assessment result, some visitors are being asked to return at later dates and staff members are being asked to self-isolate at home for 14 days before returning to the facilities. Employees who are permanently working from international offices are advised to follow local advisories and work from home as needed.
AKA has also increased our hand sanitizer locations and is encouraging frequent and optimal hand washing and other infection prevention techniques through posters, emails, and weekly updates.
We are continually monitoring the situation as it unfolds as well as current travel advisories and will increase measures as needed. We are grateful for everyone’s collaboration.
