As Canada announced the next phase of its National Shipbuilding Strategy, focusing on the renewal of the Canadian Coast Guard’s small vessels fleet – AKA Energy Systems will be part of this initiative.
Aspin Kemp and Associates has been chosen to provide the propulsion and battery systems of the first new vessel, a hybrid-electric Near-Shore Fishery Research Vessel. The vessel has been designed by Robert Allan Ltd, and Aspin Kemp and Associates are responsible for providing the propulsion and battery system. Additionally, Hawboldt Industries Ltd is handling the engineering of deck equipment systems.
